Course requirements
All undergraduate admissions decisions are the responsibility of the Cambridge Colleges so, in addition to the guidance below, check College websites for College-specific requirements. See also Entrance requirements and PDF icon The Subject Matters for additional advice about general requirements for entry, qualifications and offers.
Please note that in the following, ‘science/mathematics subjects’ refers to Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It does not include Psychology.
Please also see Key Criteria for Medical Admissions.
A-Levels
A-Levels in Chemistry and one of Biology, Physics, Mathematics.
Most applicants have at least three science/mathematics A Levels and some Colleges require this and/or particular subjects. See College websites for details.
Please note that in the past three admissions rounds, 98 per cent of applicants for Medicine (A100) offered three or more science/mathematics A-Levels and, of these, 31 per cent were successful in obtaining a place. Of the 2 per cent of applicants who offered only two science/mathematics A Levels, 8% were successful in gaining a place.
Admission assessment
All Standard Course (A100) applicants (including applicants to mature Colleges) are required to take the Biomedical Admission Test (BMAT) pre-interview at an authorised centre local to them (for a lot of applicants, this will be their school/college).
Submitted work
Applicants are not typically asked to submit examples of written work. Some may be asked by their College to do some reading in advance of their interview, but if this is required the College will provide full details in the letter inviting the student to interview.
2.牛津大学
A-Level:A*AA
Medicine
A-Levels: A*AA in three A-levels (excluding Critical Thinking and General Studies) taken in the same academic year. Candidates are required to achieve at least a grade A in both Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Physics or Mathematics. We expect you to have taken and passed any practical component in your chosen science subjects.
Level of attainment in Science and Mathematics
There are no formal GCSE requirements for Medicine. However, in order to be adequately equipped for the BMAT (see www.bmat.org.uk) and for the academic demands of the course, and if Biology, Physics or Mathematics have not been taken to A-level (or equivalent), applicants will need to have received a basic education in those subjects (for example at least a grade C/4 at GCSE, Intermediate 2 or Standard grade (Credit) or equivalent; the GCSE Dual Award Combined Sciences is also appropriate).
All candidates
All candidates must also take the Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT) as part of their application. Please click on the how to apply tab, above, for further details. No student is admitted without interview. Any shortlisted candidate, including those from overseas, will be expected to come to Oxford for interview in December.
Successful candidates must meet our requirements for health and fitness to practise.
3.斯旺西大学

A-Levels
GCE (A-Levels)
To be considered: Achieve / be predicted to achieve AAA in three A-Levels taken together at first sitting over a maximum of two years of study.
Chemistry is required
One subject from Biology/Human Biology, Maths and Physics is required
One further A-Level in most other subjects. Check with Medical Admissions Office if in doubt about suitability of a subject
Combinations of Chemistry, Biology plus a Non-Science subject are as acceptable as all-science combinations
General Studies and Global Perspectives and Research are not acceptable
Please Note: Academic score is awarded on the basis of predicted/achieved A2 grades.
Failure to achieve A-Levels of AAA at first sitting
If candidates fail to achieve the entrance requirements at the first attempt due to very exceptional personal difficulties, supporting documentation must be supplied and sent directly to the Medical Admissions Office to verify extenuating circumstances leading to this underachievement, when the UCAS application is submitted.
GCE (AS Levels)
AS Level attainments currently do not form part of our academic requirements, as it is on A-Level achievement that any offer is made.
AS module re-sits are permitted providing the final three A-Levels are undertaken simultaneously over two years of study
GCSEs
Grade 4 Passes in English and Maths are required.
Biology is recommended; Physics is recommended (or Dual Award Science)
A combination of Grade 6-9 passes at GCSE is expected, especially in science subjects.
It is important to understand that there are Academic Requirements (i.e. the minimum achievements required in examinations) as well as Non-Academic Requirements for Medicine. In addition, all applicants must take the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT).

All applicants applying to study the 5 year A100 programme or the 4 year A101 Medicine programme at Newcastle University will be required to take the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT).
The UKCAT threshold may differ in each admissions cycle as it is dependent on the scores achieved by those applicants who apply to our Medical School in the current cycle. Therefore information on what the threshold is, is not available to prospective students. Please see the School of Medical Education website for more information.
Health Assessment and Disclosure
A-Levels
AAA including Chemistry and/or Biology at A level and excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element. If only one of Biology and/or Chemistry is offered at A level, the other should be offered at GCSE grade A or 7 (or Dual Award Science grade A or 7).
Once the academic criteria have been met, academic achievement is not considered further in subsequent parts of the application process e.g. additional A levels or A* results or additional GCSE results are not considered.
Applicants ideally should have achieved the necessary A-Level grades at the first attempt as an indicator that they will be able to manage the intensity of the course. Newcastle University recognises that sometimes circumstances mean that students underperform. As a result, we allow a subject to be repeated once if there is a genuine reason for having underperformed. If a subject is being undertaken for a second time after further study the expectation is of a higher level of performance, the grade requirement from the University will also increase by a grade eg A to A*.

Entry requirements
UKCAT - third decile or above
All candidates for medicine must undertake the United Kingdom Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT). Your overall UKCAT score will be used in our selection for interview in conjunction with your academic performance to date. To register, and for further information please see: www.ukcat.ac.uk
For school-leavers/gap-year students and graduates, applicants will be ranked according to a 50:50 weighting applied to the UKCAT score and academic ability as measured by UCAS tariff or academic ability for graduates based on a weighting of degree classification or postgraduate degrees compared to other applicants who apply in that same year.
Graduates who apply for the five-year programmes and four-year GEP programme who meet the minimum academic criteria will be ranked against the other graduate applicants applying in that year according to 50:50 weighting applied to the UKCAT score and academic ability as measured using a points weighting of degree classification or postgraduate degrees
You will not be offered an interview if you obtained a total UKCAT score below the third decile. Please note there is no guarantee that you will be offered an interview if you score above the third decile.
A/AS Levels Grades Requirements
Due to A-Levels changing to the linear system from 2017, we now have different A-Level requirements dependant on the year you achieved your A-Levels.
For 2017 results:
Minimum entry from 2017: 3 A levels at AAA
Chemistry or Biology
Another Science or Maths (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Maths)
Any A-Level except Critical Thinking or General Studies, or Further Maths if Maths is taken too
For 2016, or earlier, results:
Minimum Grades requirement: three A-Levels and one AS level at AAAb
Compulsory subjects. Two Science A-Levels from Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths. Both Chemistry and Biology at AS to a minimum of grade B. In Year 13, 3 of the accepted A levels must be taken over not more than 2 years study
For all A-Level applicants:
If A-Level Maths and Further Maths are offered in the same sitting, Further Maths is acceptable at AS level only.
General studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted subjects at AS and A-Level.
For candidates offering four A-Levels, two science and two non-science subjects, our normal offer is AAAC (A grades required in two science subjects, one of which must be Biology or Chemistry) if all four subjects are pursued to A2 level and no AS levels have been cashed in.
A-Levels requirements must be achieved in one sitting over no longer than a 2 year period.
Barts and The London does not consider any applications from students who are re-sitting their AS or A-Level year thereby taking 3 years to achieve the required grades unless protected under the Equality and Diversity Act 2010. Applicants citing this provision must make the school aware with evidence by 1st September of the year of application to ensure their application is suitable to be considered under this framework.
GCSE Grades Requirements
All eligible applicants must have the following subjects at GCSE level, at grades AAABBB (777666 for GSCEs taken from 2015) or above (in any order) to include Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry, English Language, and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics or Statistics). The Science Double Award may substitute all sciences at GCSE.

We require all applicants to have obtained grade B or above or grade 6 or above in Maths and English Language or English Literature.
Contextual data
BSMS is committed to widening participation into medicine, so along with assessing your academic profile, we will also be looking for any contextual data that may enhance your application. If you are identified as having any two from the following key pieces of data, then you will be considered separately from the rest of our applicants. For these applicants, we willa ccept AAB at A-Level (including Biology and Chemistry); and English and Mathematics at GCSE grade 5 or C.
You live in a neighbourhood that has low participation into higher education or live in an area that falls within the lowest 20% of the Index of Mass Deprivation. Eligibility will be identified by BSMS Admissions.
You attended an 11–16 state school that performed below the national average at Progress 8 score. Eligibility will be identified by BSMS Admissions.
You (or a parent or guardian) are in receipt of a means-tested benefit. Eligibility should be self-declared and evidence submitted via our admissions portal. All applicants will receive information on how to do this after submitting their UCAS application.
You are in receipt of the 16 to 19 bursary. Eligibility should be self-declared and evidence submitted via our admissions portal. All applicants will receive information on how to do this after submitting their UCAS application.
You are (or have been) eligible for free school meals at any point between Year 9 and Year 13 Eligibility should be self-declared and evidence submitted via our admissions portal. All applicants will receive information on how to do this after submitting their UCAS application.
Applicants who are (or have been) looked after in local authority care for more than three months will automatically be invited for interview, subject to satisfying academic criteria.
A-Levels
Most standard offers for entry to BSMS are conditional on gaining three A grades at A-Level (including Biology and Chemistry). For applicants with contextual data we will accept AAB. We do not specify the nature of the third A-Level subject and the majority of our applicants will choose to study Maths or Physics; however we strongly encourage applications from students who study humanities or the arts as we recognise their value in broadening academic horizons.
It should be noted that General Studies is not acceptable at any level.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Applicants who are not ordinarily resident in the UK or EU are considered to be international. Applicants are advised to get in touch with the admissions team directly to see whether they are academically eligible before they apply. All applicants are also required to have grades B in English and maths GSCE, or if English is not their first language an IELTS of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in each component. This must have been achieved no more than three years before the date that you intend to enrol with BSMS.
International applicants are not required to sit The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) or any other admissions test. Applications will be invited for interview based upon academic profile and the contents of the UCAS personal statement. The personal statement should not merely list activities and attributes but be able to clearly demonstrate why the information you choose to give enhances your application.
International applicants will be interviewed by a panel (not MMI); interviews will take place at BSMS or via video-link for students based overseas. Interviewers will have access to the applicant’s personal statement and may use the content as a source for questions. BSMS will aim to hold international interviews in February, but may interview at other times.
If offered a place to study at BSMS, international students are required to pay a £2,500 tuition fee deposit when they accept their offer.
